ONE BELT AND ONE ROAD LOGISTICS SUMMIT FORUM, XIN JIANG CHINA
JTJB Partner, Ms Tan Seow Peer was invited as a guest speaker at the One Belt, One Road Logistics Summit Forum which was held at Xin Jiang China, on Thursday 23rd July 2015. The forum celebrated the revival of the Silk Road and speakers shared their thoughts on the opportunities and growth potential the Silk Road holds for China going forward.
Seow Peer spoke about the “Opportunities to Doing Business in Singapore”. Her presentation provided an overview of the various opportunities Singapore presents to foreign businesses as well as essential points to note when conducting business here.
Shortly after the Summit Forum in China, a similar Forum was organized by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) to provide a platform for discussion of the business opportunities and implications that the Maritime Silk Road has for Singapore.

7th BUNKERING IN ASIA CONFERENCE
The 7th Bunkering in Asia Conference was held at the Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre at Suntec from 29th to 30th July 2015. The Convention featured regional and international leaders addressing a broad range of issues on commercial, regulatory, supply-demand, price and global market. The speakers present at the conference consisted of ship leaders; suppliers, traders and analysts; finance, legal and claims expert as well as LNG bunkering specialists.
JTJB Senior Partner, Mr. Danny Chua addressed the topic “Does ROT Extinguish when Bunkers are Consumed?” on the second day of the conference. Danny’s presentation discussed retention of title clauses, effectiveness of such clauses and other forms of security and the enforcement of security in light of the recent decision of the Singapore High Court in Precious Shipping Public Company Ltd and others v. O.W. Bunker Far East (Singapore) Pte Ltd and others and other matters  SGHC 187 which arose out of the collapse of the OW Bunkers in November 2015.

Amrin graduated with Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from National University of Singapore and Master of Laws (Harlan Fiske Scholar) from Columbia University School of Law, U.S.
He is admitted in Singapore and New York and has extensive experience in domestic, cross-border and multi-jurisdictional transactions having practised law at leading international law firms in New York and Singapore.
Amrin specialises in mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate restructuring across various industry sectors including chemicals, energy, natural resources and shipping. He also advises on general corporate and commercial matters and all aspects of employment law including employment agreements, secondment arrangements, and employment termination.
He also serves on the boards of Nanyang Polytechnic and Singapore government feedback unit Reach.
Amrin’s arrival is timely as JTJB’s Corporate Practice has seen significant growth in terms of the depth and breadth of work, including oil & gas and aviation related work.
