JTJB SEMINAR ON PRIVATE COMPANIES ACQUISITION – STRATEGIES & COMMON PITFALLS

JTJB Partner and Head of Corporate Department, Florence Goh, conducted the last JTJB Semianr for 2015 on Tuesday, 17 November 2015.

The topic was “Private Companies Acquisition – Strategies and Common Pitfalls”.

Florence discussed the differences between acquisition of shares and assets, compared the advantages and disadvantages of partial and entire buyout, the due diligence required in company acquisitions as well as common pitfalls.

It was an informative seminar with many interesting questions raised by attendees during the Q & A session.

JTJB PARTICIPATES IN THE ASIA PACIFIC MARINE CONFERENCE 2015

JTJB Managing Partner, K Murali Pany, was a speaker at the Asia Pacific Marine Conference 2015 held on 29 October 2015, Thursday at Suntec Singapore Convention Centre. Murali spoke on “Practical and Legal Implications of Piracy”.

The Conference provided key insights on technological developments, future challenges in the Marine Sector which includes energy efficiency, operational excellence, safety, maritime security and piracy, digital shipping, green shipping, manpower supply as well as regulatory changes and impacts by global leading companies and experts.

JTJB PARTICIPATES IN THE 3-DAY COURSE ON BUNKERING DISPUTES & MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

The 3-day course organized by Conference Connection took place from 3rd November 2015 to 5th November 2015. The course is designed to provide an understanding of the complexities of the full bunkering industry supply chain, encompassing varying fuel specifications and their challenges.

JTJB Senior Partner, Danny Chua, participated as a speaker and spoke on “Extinguishing of the ‘Retention of Title’ Clause Following the Demise of O.W. Bunkers.” Danny discussed the effectiveness of retention of title clauses in light of the recent court pronouncements, other forms of security and the enforcement of security.

SCCA LUNCHTIME SEMINAR

JTJB Senior Associate, Walter Ferix spoke at the SCCA Lunchtime Seminar on 12th November 2015, Thursday on the topic “Damages and Liquidated Damages”.

Walter gave an overview on methods of assessing damages, quantifying expectation losses, limiting damages, liquidated damages clauses and discussed on recent case studies.

The topic sparked interests amongst legal counsels and the seminar came to an end with an interactive Q & A session.
