Trade Credit Insurance Seminar

With the growth of inte1rnational trade across the world, the use of trade credit insurance (“TCI”) as a risk management tool has become increasingly common. However, the conventional use of TCI may not always fit with evolving sophisticated trade structures.

On the 19th September 2018 JTJB Partner, Baldev Bhinder conducted a breakfast seminar to share his experience working on cases involving double financing and circular trades in both warehousing and high sea sales.

The seminar was attended by clients in the commodity sector including trading houses, financiers and insurers to discuss legal issues arising insuring trade operations in the region.

Participants took part in vibrant discussion on the issue of insurance tools in modern day structured trade finance.

JTJB supports the SILE’s Tea & Talk session2

On 19th October, JTJB Managing Partner, Murali Pany hosted a tea & talk session at JTJB’s Office for selected Part B students from The Singapore Bar Examination.

The session was held under auspices of the Singapore Institute of Legal Education to give Part B students enhanced engagement with senior practitioners, which according to feedback from former students, has proven to be engaging and useful.

The interactive discussion focused on current issues pertaining to the legal landscape and the practice of law. After the session, the students met JTJB associates who shared how they overcame challenges they faced as first year associates.

Marcus graduated from the University of Leicester with LLB (Hons) First Class in 2016 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Singapore Bar in 2018.

Marcus’s main areas of practice are commercial disputes, shipping and admiralty.

Prior to joining the firm as an associate, Marcus interned in 2014 and trained at the firm in 2016, before he was retained.
