More About Lisha

Lisha read law at The University of Manchester and graduated in 2015. She was called to the Singapore Bar in 2017. Throughout her years of practice, she has advised and acted for clients in a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters. Her expertise is in shipping disputes, and she is well placed to act for clients in a variety of commercial disputes, such as contractual claims, insurance claims and shareholder disputes.

  • Represented a company incorporated in India in the business of brokering and trading in dry-bulk cargos in defending against claims in excess of USD 5 million for the alleged breach, as well as in tort.
  • Defended the demise charterer of a vessel in a claim in excess of USD 8.5 million by a foreign bank for breach of contract and conversion.
  • Defended a Chinese buyer of bulk cargo in a claim by the seller in a claim in excess of RMB 159 million, and EUR 1 million for breach of contract for unpaid cargo and demurrage.
  • Defended a Korean company, the manufacturer of a container vessel, in a claim in excess of USD 14 million and EUR 11 million by a company in the business of designing and building mobile offshore rigs and vessels for breach of contract.
  • Acted for a Dubai company as a demise charterer of a vessel in defending a claim by crew members for unpaid crew wages in excess of USD 229,000 and resisting an application by the crew members for sale of pendente lite of the vessel following the arrest of the vessel in Singapore, while there were ongoing court/arbitration proceedings in London and Dubai.
  • Acted for a vessel owner in a claim in excess of USD 180,000 for oil spillage.
